I just bought a data sync cable for my new phone on Ebay from a dealer
in Hong Kong. The cable, including free shipping, cost 99 cents.

Can someone explain to me how they make money on this?

I have done this before, so this is not a scam (knock on wood...).

Shuang Lu: I guess this is similar as commercial. Sellers sell cheap things easier and faster which can get them lots of good feedback scores. Especially for new sellers in China, it's very common that they sell things less than $1 or cheaper at first, so they can earn more trust when selling more expensive things. (26-08-2012)
